2018 Kitchen Remodeling Trends

The kitchen is a room in the home where everyone usually congregates at some point during the day. It's a room where you prepare meals for the family and where you entertain. Instead of a plain kitchen with simple cabinets and counters, consider one of the 2018 remodeling trends that add color and life to the room. Hunterdon Siding & Window Co. can update your kitchen by installing new windows or other details that will enhance the appearance and the function.

When you look at many kitchens, you probably see white cabinets, counters, and drawers. White is a color that does blend well with other colors and themes, but one of the latest trends is painting the cabinets navy or gray. Gray is still a neutral color, but it offers a subdued appearance instead of the brightness that white offers. Gray also pairs well with either natural or bright colors in the room. Navy cabinets offer a classy appearance in the kitchen.

Quartz countertops have taken over kitchens instead of granite. The material is sturdy and will last for a long time in the kitchen. However, it's not quite as expensive as granite, and the material can usually be cut easier than other materials. It's a non-porous surface, which is beneficial if liquids tend to get spilled in the kitchen. There is little in the way of maintaining the material except for a quick wipe with a wet cloth.
One thing that you might notice in kitchens is glass doors on the cabinets, especially cabinets that adorn corners. Glass allows you to see the China plates and other cookware and utensils as well as any decorations that you want to keep in the kitchen but don't want to leave sitting on a shelf or counter. You can also use glass between open shelves or between solid cabinets and floating cabinets. Hiding your appliances is a trend that you want to keep in mind as well. Create sliding drawers and shelves that contain everything from lids to the toaster that you use in the morning. The trend is to keep the counters clear of items that tend to make the kitchen appear cluttered.
